Share Stelvio Project Press Conference
ICE, WATER AND AIR: NEW DATA TO KNOW THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON THE "COLD HEART" OF THE CENTRAL ALPS (Lombardy).
The results of the pilot project SHARE STELVIO in the most important protected area of the Lombardy Region.
The results of the SHARE STELVIO pilot project carried out from 2010 to 2013 will be presented in a press conference (http://www.flanet.org/79/share-stelvio) at the University of Milan: Sala di rappresentanza, via Festa del Perdono 7, 20122 Milan.
On this occasion, the first volume of a trilogy, entitled "A water world at high altitude", will be presented: these publications aim to disseminate and bring to the attention of the general public the scientific results of the present research conducted within the national Park on the three key elements (Freshwaters, Glaciers and Air) analysed. The release of the next volume is planned for early summer 2014 and texts will be dedicated to the glaciers in the Park. The third volume, concluding the series, will be devoted to researches on the atmosphere conducted at high altitude sites.
These books are intended to make available information and data in a language as plain as possible, but at the same time scientifically rigorous, to better understand the environmental and water resources present in the largest protected area in the region and hopefully to increase awareness and attention to preserve it, bringing benefits to highland without contributing to its degradation.
