UOS PISA

At ISE we carry out research into natural and anthropized ecosystems which are either under stress or in the process of recovery. By using various scientific disciplines to understand how ecosystems work we hope to be able find advanced strategies for better managing the environment.

The ISE in Pisa focuses on shedding light on the chemical, biochemical and physical aspects that affect the soil quality - the aim being to improve and conserve it. We are particularly interested in identifying and fighting the natural and anthropic factors that may lead to the irreversible degradation of the soil, such as pollution, desertification, loss of fertility, and fire.

In Pisa, the ISE employs 33 people - including researchers, technicians and those on temporary contracts.
